Distance Learning Update - April 3, 2020

April 3, 2020

This is a message for students, parents and staff of the Parma City School District.

Please read the following information about learning activities for the second phase of our closure, which begins this Monday, April 6, 2020.

Learning activities will be posted to our website, www.parmacityschools.org/distancelearning each Monday morning by 10:00 AM. This posting will include one week's worth of assignments and we ask that students complete the work by the following Monday.

In addition to learning activities, you can find on our website a link to request hard copies. Only families who do not have internet access should request hard copies. Your student's Principal will provide information about the distribution of hard copies.

Also on our website, you can learn when teachers will be available for consultation. These times are arranged by subject.

Please remember that we will assess work in this fourth quarter on a pass/fail basis. Teachers will post assignment grades of pass or fail in our Home Access Center to allow you to continue to check progress. Student final grades will be calculated using their quarter and exam grades that they earned to this point; the only impact on a GPA would come if students fail the fourth quarter.

Next, we are working to secure Chromebooks for elementary students. We should have these within one week of this announcement and will notify families of the distribution schedule when we have received materials.

Finally, we understand that this is a challenging time for many. All of us are considering deadlines as guidelines, not mandates. If you have concerns about your child's ability to complete an assignment due to extenuating circumstances, please notify the assigning teacher, or the school counselor or Principal. Further, we continue to encourage you to contact our home liaisons, school psychologists, or counselors if you are experiencing any form of challenge that we can help you navigate.

Thank you for your time this afternoon. Remember families, when you think of our Parma Schools, the best is yet to come!
