A message from Superintendent Charles Smialek, Ph.D.
September 30, 2019
We are grateful for all of the community members who have attended our first two Strategic Consolidation meetings. Further, several families made the journey to North Ridgeville Academic Center to learn firsthand of the advantages of 21st Century facilities.
We continue to seek input on our menu of options that we developed in collaboration with the GPD Group and in accordance with the input we gathered last spring from the residents and staff members.
These are the options we are considering:
Elementary Schools (Pre-K through 5th Grade)
Option A: Six schools
Option B: Seven schools
Option C: Eight schools
Secondary Schools (6th through 12th grade)
Option A: One high school (9-12), two middle schools (6-8)
Option B: Three secondary campuses, each with one 6-8 school and one 9-12 school
Option C: Two secondary campuses, each with one 6-8 school and one 9-12 school and a separate campus for district functions potentially including our central office, Opportunity Center, Career and Technical Education programs, and athletics and arts facilities
We have four events scheduled in October and we hope that you will plan to participate in at least one:
Saturday, 10/5/19, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM at Parma Heights Library (Meeting/Input Session)
Saturday, 10/12/19 - 10:00 AM - (Building Tour) at North Olmsted High School/Middle School (east entrance)
27301 Butternut Ridge Road, North Olmsted, OH 44070
Monday, 10/14/19, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
at Greenbriar Middle School (Meeting/Input Session)
Monday, 10/28/19, 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM at Hillside Middle School - Media Center (Meeting/Input Session)
We are working to build a consensus plan that can gain enough community support that we will be able to secure funding for new schools on the November, 2020 ballot.
The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission (OFCC) will provide 31% of the cost of new classroom facilities. Since 2012, the OFCC has invested over $400 billion into new schools across 350 school districts.
None of this investment has occurred in Parma; it is our turn and our time to take advantage of this state investment and build the schools and facilities that our students and residents deserve! Please help us to craft the best plan possible.
