Parma Rotary Donates Dictionaries to All PCSD Third Grade Students
On December 2, members of the Parma Rotary made stops at Thoreau Park and Parma Park to distribute dictionaries to third graders. In all, the Rotary donated dictionaries to every third grade class throughout the district.
“Delivering something that’s not only educational but appreciated by the students it can give exposure to children that there are community leaders that help them,” Robert Euerle, the Parma Rotary President and President of Greenscape USA Inc. said. “And to see kids with lit up faces, excitement, and appreciation, it makes us want to come back every year.”
Also in attendance to deliver dictionaries were Barry Axelrod, Owner of Axelrod Buck GMC, and retired businesswoman Tam Schervish.
The Parma Rotary has been involved with the Parma Schools in numerous ways such as having ice cream socials for elementary schools.
Other ways the Parma Rotary has been involved with the district includes providing scholarships to juniors and seniors by utilizing the Rotary Four Way Test, in which students present a speech, and having luncheons with students of vocational programs.
“The main focus is collaborating with the schools because they are our future,” Euerle said. “I just think that it needs to be noted that Rotary are a lot of people that work professionally within the community. We want to watch our next generation come up, be successful, and hopefully be better than us. It’s imperative that we must be contributing to the younger generation.”
