Normandy High School Says Hello to "Bye Bye Birdie"
Rock and roll heartthrob “Conrad Birdie” and a fabulous production of the Tony Award-winning musical comedy, “Bye Bye Birdie,” will arrive at Normandy High School, April 25-27, for three nights of hip-swiveling fun and a town turned to chaos.
This story of idol admiration, envy, and opportunity features the students of the Normandy High School Drama Workshop as they transform their stage into the once-quiet small town of Sweet Apple, Ohio. Conrad Birdie’s just been drafted into the Army, much to the devastation of teen girls everywhere, but none more than struggling songwriter Albert Peterson, whose song Birdie was just about to record. Before Birdie’s sent to duty, Peterson and his long-time love, Rosie Alvarez, hatch a plan to send Conrad to plant his goodbye kiss on one lucky fan for the entire world to see. The selection of Sweet Apple teen, Kim MacAfee, sends the entire town – and Kim’s jealous boyfriend – into a frenzy. Will Sweet Apple ever be the same?
Everyone is welcome to come and catch “Birdie Fever” in this crowd-pleasing production at Normandy High School’s Auditorium (2500 West Pleasant Valley Road, Parma), Thursday through Saturday, April 25-27, for 7:00 p.m. performances. Tickets are $12 for General Admission at the door, but presale tickets are $7 for Students and $9 for Adults. Call (440) 843-3926 for presale information.
Ticket and refreshment table sales, as well as 50/50 and basket raffle proceeds, will support the continuation of Normandy High School’s self-funded Drama Program. Your support is greatly appreciated.
Advisor Kelly Clark, along with the entire cast, crew, and all of Normandy High School, cordially welcome guests of all ages to take in the campy fun of this classic musical comedy. Come and enjoy the show!
