Nutrition Services Local Spending Report

October 11, 2022
Happy Farm to School Month from PCSD Nutrition Services! The PCSD Nutrition team proudly serves our students fresh, local foods daily. Last school year, local annual spending surpassed $161,000- placing PCSD second in the state for local food purchasing.
Why is local purchasing important?
1. Supports local farmers and the economy
2. Local food tastes better!
3. Decreased environmental impact
Fruit and vegetable bars span 12 schools in the district and fuel over 4,000 students each day. Quarry Hill apples, Free Leafy Green hydroponic lettuce, and Riehm Farms sun gold tomatoes are just a few of the many fresh produce options available.
A big THANK YOU to everyone who helps feed kids day in and day out!
