- Valley Forge High School
Good evening Patriot families,
I hope all of you are well. We have worked to update our calendar on our website with the dates and events for the remainder of the school year. Please continue to refer to the district and school website for closure updates. Here is the important information and updates for you this week from Valley Forge.
Chromebook/Technical Assistance: We have introduced a less confusing support address which is TechHelp@parmacityschools.org for any student who may need technical support during the closure.
Upcoming Events: We have created a document that can be found on our Valley Forge Website that lists all of our upcoming events with dates and times. Please continue to check that document. Any changes to the document will be highlighted in red. I have also attached it for your reference.
Distance Learning Dates:
Seniors: The last day teachers will post new assignments will be Monday, May 11, 2020. The last day for seniors to turn in work will be Monday, May 25, 2020 by 8:00 AM.
Students in Grades 8-11: The last day teachers will post new assignments will be Monday, May 18, 2020. Those assignments are due on Monday, June 1, 2020 by 8:00 AM.
May 12- Senior Cap/Gown pick-up: Please refer to the attached important dates document to see times for cap/gown pick-up as well as other materials be distributed or collected on this day for Seniors ONLY.
Senior Parade and Recognition Night: Seniors are invited to participate in a parade on Thursday, May 21, 2020. Seniors must have an adult (non-student) driver in order to participate. Please feel free to decorate your car with a VF or college theme. All participants in the parade should report to the Valley Forge gym parking lot at 6:00 PM. We will start the parade route promptly at 6:30 PM. I have attached a flyer that shows the parade route and viewing locations as well as a letter with directions/expectations. At the conclusion of the parade, seniors receiving an award should report to the front auditorium lot of VF. If your senior is supposed to receive an award, an invitation to this event will be sent via email early next week. We will also have a paper copy of the invite at cap and gown distribution.
OhioGuidestone Newsletter: I have attached a newsletter from OhioGuidestone (Connections: Your Guide to Thriving in the Pandemic with OhioGuidestone). In it you will find how OhioGuidestone is available to you and some helpful Social Emotional Resources and information to help you and your children manage your emotions, and take care of your mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Google Classroom: It is important for parents to understand that when you check your student’s work on Google Classroom, if your child received a score of “0” on the assignment, it will only show that the assignment is missing (not that it was turned in and received a score of zero). It is still very important for parents to also be checking the Home Access Center to monitor student assignments. We understand that this can be frustrating, but it is the way the Google platform works from the parent side.
Wishing you well,
