The holiday gift drive at Parma City School District’s Administrative Offices makes the holidays extra special for students throughout our communities.
A long-standing tradition in the district, coordinated by PCSD’s Treasurer’s Office, the gift drive collected 196 gifts for families in need this holiday season.
“Every child should be able to have the chance to believe in Santa and the Spirit of Christmas,” expressed Sheri Bartko, PCSD Payroll Supervisor. “A lot of our families here in the District are struggling to make ends meet, especially this year, and it takes away from the smiling faces on each child when they see their parents struggling with bills and buying groceries. It's the least we can do to give these parents some peace knowing that there is this wonderful group of people giving them a hand to give their children a wonderful Christmas.”
Parma Justice Center, PSE Credit Union and a local woman’s group also support this program and purchase gifts for students during this season of giving.
“I just love to do it. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, just ask my kids,” Bartko shared. “So, for me to do this year after year and knowing that these kids will wake up Christmas morning, look at their tree with their eyes wide open and see a gift or two under it, just makes my heart melt. At that moment in time, nothing else matters in the world.”
