Mrs. Brittany Hales is the new Special Education Supervisor (Middle and High Schools) for PCSD! Get to know Mrs. Hales!
Past positions held in PCSD and other districts: Intervention Specialist (Middle and High School) I have been teaching since 2005, I started off teaching 8th grade at Hillside Middle School. When the 8th grade was moved to the high school, I stayed at Hillside and taught 5th, 6th and 7th grade. In 2019, I decided it was time to go back to teaching 8th grade- I spent three years teaching at Parma Senior High.
Education: Master's Degree In Administration/Special Education - Edinboro University Master's Degree In Reading Specialization - Kent State Bachelor's Degree in Education - Cleveland State
I also have training in a reading program specifically designed for students experiencing serious reading difficulty, including dyslexia. This program is based on the Orton-Gillingham philosophy and techniques, and follows the introduction sequence of Alphabetic Phonics.
How does it feel to be in this new position?
I am very excited about my new position.
Why did you want this new position? I have spent 17 years in the classroom in a variety of settings and I am hopeful that I can use my experience to help other educators.
What are you most looking forward to this school year? Meeting new students and staff that I haven’t previously worked with.
Goals: I hope to help students, families and staff have a successful year as we transition into new buildings.
What do you want people to know about you? I got married the same year I started teaching and I have two sons - the oldest just started high school and the younger one is in 7th grade.
