How does it feel to be in this new position?
I feel humbled to be in this position and have the opportunity to serve our district from Central Office. I've had the good fortune to work with some amazing staff members and families. The thought of continuing to serve them and having the opportunity to positively impact all of our buildings are motivating. Moving into this new position has also caused me to reflect upon some of the great teachers, classified staff members, and administrators that have helped me throughout the years and invested time and effort into helping me grow.
Why did you want this new position?
I feel that under our current leadership we have made significant progress in prioritizing our instructional efforts and supporting buildings. I believe in what we are doing and where we are headed. I want to continue to be a part of that. Any improvements we can make on the operations side in terms of simplifying our efforts and supporting buildings will help us continue to positively impact student achievement. Also, I hope to find ways to better support and respond to the needs of our classified staff members. They do incredible work.
What are you most looking forward to this school year?
I'm most excited about the fact that I have a whole new group of individuals and departments that I can learn from! I've started the process of soliciting feedback from our operations departments. There are opportunities for us to do more and to do better. The individuals working in those departments every day are the ones who know best how we can improve. I want to continue to hear from them so that we can prioritize our efforts and follow through on some of their ideas.
Short-term goals you would like to achieve in your new position? Any long-term goals?
In the short-term, I would like our operations departments to reflect on their best practices and opportunities for growth, which will allow us to better prioritize our work. In the long-term, I hope for the atmosphere of collaboration to continue to improve and for our buildings and departments to feel unified in their efforts to support our students. Quite simply, the work of all of our employees and all of our departments is necessary for students to achieve their highest level of success.
