Meeting the 18 Point Graduation Requirement - Class of 2018 and Beyond

In addition to the 20 credits needed for graduation, a student must also meet a second requirement.
There are three ways to meet this–
1. Earn 18 points on the end-of-course exams in seven tested areas (currently the AIR tests)
2. Earn a remediation free score on the ACT or SAT
3. Earn an industry-recognized credential in a single career field and achieve a workforce readiness score on the WorkKeys assessment.
The state of Ohio and the Parma City Schools believe most students will meet this requirement by earning the 18 points. These points will be accumulated by taking end-of-course exams in English I, English II, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, US History, and American Government. A student can earn between 0-5 points on each test. In addition a student must also earn a minimum of 4 points in math, 4 points in English, and 6 points in Social Studies & Science (combined). However, please note earning the minimum in each area will not give a student the 18 points needed to graduate. In a few days parents of 10th & 11th graders will be receiving a letter with their accumulated points. See your counselor or assistant principal for more details.
