John was drafted in the 5th round by the San Diego Chargers in 1978.
John played for three seasons for the Chargers and then played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1981 to 1983. He was a member of the 1981 Super Bowl championship team playing in Super Bowl XVI.
While at Normandy, John was a 3 year starter playing both offensive tackle and defensive tackle. In 1973, he was selected first team All Lake Eric League and was a member of Normandy's first winning football team in 1973.
John earned a full scholarship to the University of Virginia. At Virginia, John started on both the offensive line and the defensive line. He was an All-Academic ACC team member in 1978.
John has a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership and is a current resident of Burlingame, California. He serves as an Executive Coach and a Leadership Development Consultant.
