Gene Zayac - Class of 1964

  • Gene Zayac '64
    Gene was a life long Patriot as a student and teacher from Opening Day until his recent retirement as a chemistry teacher.  He lettered all three years in cross country and baseball.  He was a key cross country runner on the 1963 team which one Valley Forge's first Lake Erie League title.  For baseball, in the spring of 1964 he was selected to the All-Greater Cleveland Team and played in the East-West All-Star Game.  
     
    Gene was a member of the Ohio State University National Championship baseball team in 1966.  Gene was the first fast-pitch softball coach who worked with several All-Lake Erie League and future college softball stars.
