Local School District Building Visits

  • As part of a continuing discussion with the community regarding Master Planning for Strategic Consolidation, the Parma City School District (PCSD) is inviting community members to tour local schools and to see first-hand the impact of 21st-century buildings and educational spaces designed to better serve students.

Residents in the community are invited to join PCSD Administrators and representatives from the GPD Group, a Cleveland architectural firm advising the district on the future of school building facilities. Informal tours of these buildings and campuses will help educate PCSD residents on current design standards, as well as provide an opportunity to answer questions.

"We think it is very important to provide opportunities for our families and residents to see what opportunities new schools can provide,” Charles Smialek, Superintendent of the Parma City School District, explained. “It's one thing to see a website or PowerPoint slide, but it's so much more powerful to actually walk through a truly 21st-century learning environment. In addition, several of our tours will visit campus models, with, essentially two schools under the same roof. Two of our proposed secondary plans feature the campus model so these tours offer chances to see what this concept can actually look like in operation."

Visits to local school districts and buildings will take place on the following days and times:

Strategic Consolidation

  • OFCC (OHIO FACILITIES CONSTRUCTION COMMISSION) REPORT

    EDUCATIONAL VISIONING

In January 2018, the PCSD then engaged with the Harrison Planning Group, who led Educational Visioning Workshops.  These workshops included community stakeholder groups such as parents, students, teachers, administrators and community members.  Topics discussed included lesson delivery, student achievement and structure of school buildings.  To view more information about the Educational Visioning Workshops, click here: https://www.parmacityschools.org/Page/7873.

    STRATEGIC CONSOLIDATION
