PCSD School Climate Survey for Families: We are surveying families' perceptions of school climate at all of our buildings within the following five subscales: teaching and learning, school safety, interpersonal relationships, environment, and parent involvement.  We invite you to share your insights through our survey, which will be evaluated to identify ways to strengthen family engagement practices. The 27-item survey uses a 4-point rating scale (from Strongly Disagree to Strongly Agree). The survey completion time is approximately 10 minutes. Your participation will help us prioritize our next steps for maintaining and fostering an inclusive and responsive school community. Your voice is important!

The Parma City School District places a strong emphasis Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) by collaborating between administration, the Parma Area Family to Family Collaborative, our school buildings, parents, and community organizations. The PBIS initiative has been expanding in our District with proactive strategies for defining, teaching, and supporting appropriate student behaviors to create positive school environments.

Research has shown that the implementation of punishment, especially when it is used inconsistently and in the absence of other positive strategies, is ineffective.

Introducing, modeling, and reinforcing positive social behavior is an important step in a student's educational experience. Teaching behavioral expectations and rewarding students for following them is a much more positive approach than waiting for misbehavior to occur before responding. The purpose of school-wide PBIS is to establish a climate in which appropriate behavior is the norm.

In addition, each school building conducts various anti-bullying programs throughout the year.

To report a bullying incident, we encourage students and parents to connect with their building administrators. We also encourage our students to make a verbal report to any PCSD staff member. Students or parents may use this email address to send a message: pcsdreportbullying@parmacityschools.org  Additionally, anyone can report anything that is suspicious or endangering by calling or texting the statewide hotline 844-SAFEROH
