1966-1967 Boys Basketball Team

  • 1966-1967 Boys Basketball Team Before the 1966-67 season, Coach Broski realized that the Patriots had the potential to be special.  An early preseason scrimmage with state power East Teach was sold out. A trip to scrimmage some Southern Ohio star-laden teams like Middletown, Columbus East, and Columbus South helped the team build confidence.

Coached Courey and Riha helped Coach Broski develop a fundamentally sound (as well as very tall) cohesive group.  The team used a 1-3-1 zone defense very effectively. Despite a few challenges from Parma and Euclid during the regular season, the Patriots were able to post an 18-0 record and an LEL championship.  They won their first four tournament games and met their preseason scrimmage rival, East Tech, for the ticket to the state Final Four. The Patriots posted an overall record of 22-1.
