    Bob Vicek graduated in 1962 from Brooklyn High School in Brooklyn, Ohio where he participated in football and track. He earned 3 letters in football and 4 letters in track. He was awarded the Cleveland Touchdown Club Award in 1961. He was the MVP in track in 1960, 1961, and 1962. He placed fifth in the state in hurdles and held school records for high and low hurdles. He is a member of the Brooklyn High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

     

    Bob then attended Baldwin-Wallace College where he earned 4 letters in track. He held school records at BW in 330 yard hurdles and 440 yard hurdles. He held the Ohio Conference record in indoor low hurdles. He was the captain of the BW track team in 1966. Bob then went on to earn his Masters Degree at the University of Florida where he was the Assistant Track Coach for sprinters and hurdlers.

     

    Bob started his teaching career at Parma City Schools in 1967. He continued his love of track as a track coach at Valley Forge High School from 1969-1978. During his coaching career, he won the Lake Erie League meet, coached 4 state qualifiers, and was LEL Coach of the Year. His team set almost every school record in track, most of which still stand today.

     

    Bob retired in 1999 after 32 years of teaching high school math at Valley Forge. Bob was a Charter Captain and owner of Sandpiper Fishing Charters from 1987-2006 where he coached many children and adults on how to fish. After retiring from fishing, Bob worked as the Clubhouse Manager at Thunderbird Hills Golf Club from 2005-2015. Currently, Bob lives with his wife Sheila in Tiffin, OH where he holds the job title of Best Grandpa EVER!!!
