Scott Jones earned eight varsity letters in football, basketball, and track from 1968-1970. Football honors include 1st team Parade All–American 1970, Press Star and Plain Dealer Dream Team 1968 and 1969, Call & Post All-Scholastic 1969, WVIZ All-City 1969, All Ohio 1969, North-South Ohio All-Star game 1970, and Knute Rockne Award 1970.

Scott was a three-year varsity basketball starter. He also was a three-year varsity track member, setting school records in the discus and sprint medley. Track meet records include Berea Relay sprint medley 1968 and Euclid discus relays 1970.

Scott earned a full football scholarship to the Ohio State University.
