In Matt's time at Normandy, he ran cross country and track. While running cross country, he earned the honor of being 12th in the State in 1982 and 1983. In 1984, he was 1st in the State. While running track in 1985, he was 3rd in the state in the 3200 meter. In 1985, Matt was named Athlete of the Year.
Matt attended Cleveland State University and ran cross country and track in his freshman year. He was named Outstanding Freshman. Unfortunately, injuries then stopped his running career. After ending his running career, Matt stayed active enjoying mountaineering, skiing, biking, and kayaking.
Matt honorably served as a Submarine Officer in the U.S. Navy. He was also a software development management consultant. Matt married and has two children. He is currently retired from corporate life and works as an Operations Manager for his wife's private OB/GYN practice. In addition, he manages home rentals.
