Michelle Scotch - Class of 1987

  • Michelle Scotch Michelle earned four varsity letters as a track and field athlete and also lettered three times in volleyball and three times in basketball. She was chosen as the 1987 Outstanding Patriot Female Athlete on the basketball team. She was known for her aggressive, tenacious defense.

    Michelle still owns Patriot track team records in the 100m, 200, 400, 4x100, 4x200 and sprint medley relay. She was an LEL and District Champion and a four-time state qualifier in the either the 200 or 400. The highlight of Michelle’s track career was her third place finish at the State Meet in the 200 with a time 25.38 seconds – a school record.

     
    Michelle earned a scholarship to attend Miami of Ohio to continue her track career. She was ranked as a top three all-time Miami runner in the 400 and 800. She held the indoor mark at Miami in the 200 as well as being on both indoor and outdoor record holding 4x400 teams. She was the Mid-American Conference Track Athlete of the Year in 1992.

    In the history of Miami’s track and field program, Scotch holds the fifth fastest time in the 400 with a time of 54.65 and ranks seventh on the list in the 800 with a time of 2:10.47

    Michelle played on the Cleveland Fusion women’s football team from 2002 to 2005 and was Player of the Year in 2002. She was a teacher and still coaches track in North Carolina.
