Robin DeZuba - Class of 1989

  • Robin earned four varsity letters in track as well as lettering in volleyball and basketball. She was chosen as the Outstanding Senior Athlete in 1989. Robin is a two-time track team MVP and still holds the Patriot record in the 100m high hurdles, 300m low hurdles, 400m relay, high jump relay (which was the Berea Relays meet record). It was not until 2003 when Natalie Sako broke DeZuba’s high jump record.
     
    Robin was the Lake Erie League, District, and Regional champion in the 100m hurdles and high jump during her junior season. She represented Valley Forge at the Ohio State Track and Field Championship three times in high jump and the 100 high hurdles and earned All-Ohio status in both events, finishing fourth and sixth in the hurdles and sixth in the high jump. During the summer, she competed with the Lake Erie Comets and became a national place winner. Despite losing her freshman college year to a serious illness, she maintained her scholarship at Miami of Ohio and was able to compete successfully in the high jump, triple jump and 100 hurdles. In 1993, she helped Miami of Ohio place fourth in the Mid-American Conference Championships by scoring in the heptathlon and high jump.
