Karen Horvath - Class of 1979

  • Karen Horvath Karen participated in basketball and softball during her high school career, earning six letters from 1977 to 1979. In basketball, her team went undefeated in the Lake Erie League and was the first girls team to win districts and qualify for regionals. Karen earned All-LEL, District, and State honors and was both the Plain Dealer and Cleveland Press All-Scholastic. Her senior year she was co-MVP of the team. In softball, Karen earned All-LEL honors.

    At Hiram College, Karen played basketball, softball and field hockey. She was inducted into Hiram’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. After graduating from Hiram, Karen taught biology and coached at Brecksville-Broadview Heights High School. During her 19 years as the head basketball coach, she earned over 200 career wins. Her teams also earned two Pioneer Conference Championships, two district titles and two regional berths.
