Classes will be held Tuesday - Friday each week in two sessions.
- Session 1 will take place from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
- Session 2 will take place from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
* Lunch will be provided free of charge from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Classes will be held in person each of these days in the Parma Senior High School Media Center.
All work will be done through the APEX online learning platform. Students will need to bring their Chromebooks each day to access the program.
During each session, students will work on their individual courses during the time they are here. Students must take all tests here at school in the presence of a staff member. Students may work on quizzes and other materials both here at school and at home. The more they work outside of school, the more credit they will be able to complete.
Daily attendance is expected. Strong attendance will translate into a successful experience. While there is flexibility in scheduling, a commitment to this opportunity is key to succeeding.
Students work at their own pace. We will meet with each student individually to talk about the goals for the summer and provide the necessary pacing to reach those goals.
Students can work as independently as they wish. There will be teachers available in each content area during each session to provide as much assistance as needed for each student.
Grading for each course will be on a traditional grading scale.
90% - 100% A
80% - 89% B
70% - 79% C
60% - 69% D
Students must earn a 60% or higher overall in a course in order to earn credit for that course. In addition, students must earn a minimum of 60% on each test and a minimum of 60% on the midterm and final exam.
If a student is not successful at earning a 60% or higher on any assessment, they can retake the assessment as many times as needed until they are successful.
A weekly update will be sent to each student and parent regarding progress for that week.
If a student does not finish the course during summer school, a grade of WF will be assigned. Any work completed in a course will not be lost and can be transferred to credit recovery during the school year as needed.
