Rich earned letters in football, hockey and baseball.  He played linebacker and wide receiver and was recognized as a special mention All-Ohio player.  He was also recognized as a first team All-Northeast Ohio player and a Channel 25 Player of the Week. Rich was also honored as a two-time MVP in baseball as a pitcher and outfielder. Rich was selected as the Valley Forge Outstanding Male Athlete in 1991.

 

While at Kent State University, Rich received three All-MAC honors at linebacker.
