Andy earned letters in both football and basketball.  His early football experience was as a quarterback, but Coach Preising saw his size as being suited to be on both offensive and defensive lines.

 

Andy was a four year letterman at Syracuse University where he name to the East Coast Conference first team and was an Eastern Academic All-American.

 

He played for the "Air Coryell" San Diego Chargers from 1981 to 1985.
