Doug was a member of both the undefeated Lake Erie League championship football and wrestling teams.  Doug earned All-Lake Erie League recognition as a junior and senior.  He was named to the Plain Dealer and Cleveland Press All-Scholastic football teams.  Doug was also voted for All-Ohio status as a senior.

 

Doug attended Purdue University where he was a two year starter at middle guard.

 

He was a teacher and coach in several school systems, including at Valley Forge.
