Job Training
-
This two-year training program provides opportunities for students to perform entry-level job readiness skills in preparation for all ranges of employment after high school. Job Training is currently housed at all three high schools. Students will be provided with transportation from their home school and to all job locations. Current job sites include UH Parma Medical Center, Baldwin Wallace University, Seven Hills Recreation Center, Seven Hills City Hall, Thrift Nation, Salvation Army, Cuyahoga Community College, TJ Maxx, Danny Boy's, and W.B. Mason.
Each student will participate in supervised off-campus training four days per week from late September until late May. One day will be in the classroom reinforcing appropriate worksite behavior, safety, sanitation, and grooming. Students are placed according to skill level and then rotated at the teacher’s discretion. Initially, students will work alongside employees with a goal of independence in many cases. Student participation in this program is a team decision.
Post-Secondary: Students will leave the program with a resumé, references and the skills necessary for success in the workforce. Upon completion of the program, the students will have opportunities for competitive employment or supported employment within the community. Students have the opportunity to link to adult agencies for additional support upon graduation.
Please contact your Transition Coordinator or the Job Training Instructors for more information.
