Russ Jacques - Parma Senior High School Class of 1963

  • Russ Jacques '63 Jacques was a three-sport standout at Parma High. He lettered twice in football and earned three more letters in both basketball and baseball.  He earned multiple All- Lake Erie League and All-District honors in all three sports and was Plain Dealer All-Scholastic and All-Ohio in both football and baseball.  Jacques was selected as team MVP in all three sports as well. 

     

    After graduation, he attended Bowling Green State University where he earned five letters; three in football and two in baseball.  Jacques played on two MAC Championship football teams and earned All-MAC honors in baseball in 1967.  After his stellar playing career, Jacques made his mark in the coaching ranks. 

     

    After beginning his coaching career as an assistant coach in the PCSD, he coached at the collegiate level for seventeen years including stints at West Virginia University, University of Pittsburgh, Northwestern and University of Wisconsin amongst others.  He coached in five college bowl games and coached sixteen future NFL players. 

     

    For the past twenty years, Jacques has been the head coach at Strongsville High School, where he has won eleven conference championships and has led the Mustangs to fourteen OHSAA Division I playoff appearances.  He has won numerous coaching awards throughout his tenure at Strongsville including Ohio Coach of the Year in 1998.
