Robert Brugge - Parma Schaaf Class of 1944
A standout in football for Parma, Bob played running back at The Ohio State University, earning three varsity letters. Teaming with fellow Parma Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Les Horvath, Robert Brugge, and the Buckeyes went undefeated and were ranked #2 in the country, winning the Big Ten Championship. Bob played in the East-West Shrine Game and was selected in the 1948 NFL draft by the Chicago Bears. After his playing career ended, Bob returned to Parma Senior as head football coach, becoming one of the top coaches in the state. Under his leadership, the Redmen won 4 straight Lake Erie League championships from 1958-1961.
Bob is a charter member of the Parma Senior High School Athletic Hall of Fame, inducted in 2007.
