Normandy High School Commencement Sign Up

  • Good evening families,

Last week, Dr. Smialek communicated with you that the Cuyahoga County Board of Health rejected our plan for a commencement at Byers Field. Based on their recommendations and the feedback from our district survey, we will be moving forward with a virtual commencement for the Class of 2020.  High school graduation is a milestone event and we are committed to making this virtual ceremony special and memorable for all of our graduates.

To honor the wishes from the survey, each student will be able to bring five family members with them to watch them walk the Normandy stage in their cap and gown, hear their name announced, and receive their diploma.  We will be filming each graduate as well as taking an official photo.  The film will be edited together with all the traditional speeches and made available at a later date.

To accommodate our families as best as possible, we have created a sign-up for you to choose one day and one time slot that works best for you. Each day will be broken into 30-minute increments that will accommodate six graduates, per 30-minutes.  The dates and times for our individual ceremonies are:

    • June 11:  9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
    • June 12:  9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
    • June 15:  9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
    • June 16:  9:00 AM - 3:30 PM
    • June 17:  9:00 AM - 11:30 AM

We request that you click on this Normandy Commencement Sign-Up Form to select and register for your commencement day and time slot.  The deadline to register is June 1, 2020.  We will communicate further details and procedures as we approach the dates for filming.

    Thank you,

    Mrs. Urban

Normandy High School Online Distance Learning Activities

  • We are committed to providing ongoing instruction during the extended school closure due to COVID-19. Students are expected to continue working on their schoolwork remotely. All teachers and schools have worked to create meaningful learning activities/lessons that focus on reviewing, extending and reinforcing grade-level standards. Learning activities will now be assessed as Pass/Fail. Grade point averages will be determined by the compilation of grades to this point. The only impact to the final calculation would be an “F”, which would calculate as a 0 in quality points. “P” grades will have no impact on final grade calculation.

Parents/students are encouraged to email their teachers/principals with questions regarding assignments. If families/students do not have access to the internet at home, they can complete the Google Form posted on our school district’s website or contact the school Principal.
