Who is eligible for busing?
Students who are in grades K-8 are eligible for transportation if they are 2.0 miles or more from the residence. (Effective January 26, 2009)How can I register for transportation? When you enroll your child in the district, a form is sent to the Transportation Office which is used to determine eligibility. Bus route information is provided to the school and the school will notify parent/guardian of the bus information if the child is eligible for service. What do I do if my child is not bused, but I believe he/she is eligible?
Mileage verification is available by calling 440-885-2326.How far can a child walk to a bus stop?Ohio law requires that we assign students in grades K-8 to bus stop locations within 1/2 mile of their residence. Most students will be assigned to a stop within 1/4 mile of their residence; however, in some cases, students may be required to walk up to the State's minimum requirement. Why was the bus late today? While this is not typical, many factors can affect the bus running behind schedule. Sometimes a mechanical problem delays the bus from leaving the Bus Garage. Sometimes traffic or weather conditions will delay the bus once on route. Sometimes the driver needs to pull over and correct a student's poor behavior choices. What is the maximum ride time for a student on the bus?Ohio law does not identify a maximum ride time. The Parma City School district works very hard to maintain as short of a ride time as possible. With that said, some students do ride the bus longer than others for logistical reasons. What do I do if I have a question or suggestion?
