STEM Education is open to K-5 students of all backgrounds and abilities who reside within the Parma City School District. Students attending the STEM program at Pleasant Valley Elementary School and Greenbriar Middle School will continue to learn all core content such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies through an integrated approach. The learning environment will focus on developing essential communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education is at the forefront of national school reform in an attempt to increase American students’ abilities in areas where we have been falling behind our global competitors. STEM calls for an increased focus on core content and essential skills necessary for communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation. These reforms will help prepare America’s students to be college and career ready and enable them to better compete in this world economy. STEM instruction does not want every child to become an engineer but rather wants students to be prepared to thrive in any career.
