School Supplies
Please note that many of these items are consumable in nature and may require replacement throughout the school year.

DAG HAMMARSKJOLD SUPPLY LIST
2007-2008

KINDERGARTEN

Please clearly label all supplies, clothing, book bags, etc., with child’s full name.

Art: Oversized shirt with name in bold, black letters on front and back to be used as an art smock.

Physical Education: Rubber-soled (no black soles) athletic shoes and T-shirt with first name on front and back in bold, black letters.

General Supplies:

Scissors – rounded or pointed; lefty if needed – Fiskar brand recommended

Pocket Folder – two pockets on bottom only – name and “Home” on outside

Plastic Supply Box – no larger than 5.5” x 8.5” x 2.5” – name on outside

Book Bag or Backpack – brought to school each day – name on inside

Drawstring Bag – name in bold, black letters on front and back

Ziploc Bags – box of sandwich size – BOYS ONLY

Liquid Hand Soap – small pump container – GIRLS ONLY

Additional considerations:

Certain supplies may need to be replenished during the school year.  There may also be a few additional items required at the beginning of the year for specific classrooms.

Book bags or backpacks, pocket folders, and athletic shoes may go back and forth between home and school.  All other items are to remain at school.

All items should be brought to school on the day of Kindergarten Orientation.


GRADE 1

Please clearly label all supplies, clothing, book bags, lunch containers, etc., with child’s full name.

Art: Oversized shirt (with first name on front and back) to be used as an art smock.

Physical Education: Rubber-soled (no black soles) athletic shoes and T-shirt with first name on front and back in large letters.

General Supplies:

Crayons – box of 24 only – 2

Glue – Elmer’s white – 4oz – 2

Glue Sticks – 4

Plastic Supply Box – at least 12” x 6” – must be able to hold crayon box, glue bottle, glue stick, scissors, and pencils

Facial Tissue – box

“Fat” Pencils (any brand) – 8

Scissors – pointed

Bar Type Erasers – pink – 2

Spiral Notebooks – wide-ruled, 70 sheets, no perforated edges – 2

Markers – thick, minimum box of 8

Highlighters – 2

Pocket Folders – 4 – two pockets – one each of red, yellow, blue, green

Loose-leaf Notebook – 1.5” – no paper needed

Rolls of Scotch Tape – 2

Band-Aids – 1 box

Paper Towels – 1 roll

Plastic Bags – sandwich or snack size, Ziploc or One-zip preferred – 1 box

Plastic Bags – quart or gallon size, Ziploc or One-zip preferred – 1 box

Book Bag – brought to school each day – NO WHEELS

Additional considerations:

Certain supplies may need to be replenished during the school year.  There may also be a few additional items required at the beginning of the year for specific classrooms.

Please note that oversized items cannot be stored in classrooms and will be returned.

Do not send trapper keepers.  They are unnecessary and will not fit in student desks.


GRADE 2

Please clearly label all supplies, clothing, book bags, lunch containers, etc., with child’s full name.

Art: Oversized shirt to be used as an art smock.

Music: One pocket folder to store music worksheets and practice drills.

Physical Education: Rubber-soled (no black soles) athletic shoes and T-shirt with first name on front and back in large letters.

General Supplies:

Crayons – box of 24

Glue – Elmer’s white

Facial Tissue – box – boys bring in September; girls bring in January

Pencils – #2 – sharpened – 3

Red Pen

Ruler – marked in both inches and centimeters

Scissors – pointed; lefty if needed

Ziploc Bags – box of sandwich size

Bar Type Eraser

Highlighter

Pocket Folders – 3 – pockets must be on the bottom, not the side

Large Zippered Supply Bag – cosmetic bag works great

Flash Cards – one box each of addition and subtraction for nightly home practice

Clipboard – 9” x 12”

Certain supplies may need to be replenished during the school year.  There may also be a few additional items required at the beginning of the year for specific classrooms.

Classrooms enjoy a puppet theater all year.  Please donate a homemade or store-bought puppet for this activity.

Birthdays may be celebrated at school.  If you wish to send in a treat, send an item that is easily distributed at the end of the day.  No suckers, hard candy, gum, or cake.

NO BOOK BAGS ON WHEELS ARE PERMITTED.  These do not fit in lockers and are a safety concern as children and/or adults may trip over them.  They also interfere with tornado drills.  Do not send supply boxes, trapper keepers, or mechanical pencils


GRADE 3

Ruler – marked in both inches and centimeters – wood only

Scissors – pointed; lefty if needed

Notebook Paper – wide-ruled loose leaf or neatbook – white only

Bar Type Eraser

Spiral Notebooks – wide-ruled, different colors – 2

Highlighter

Dry Erase Markers – any color – 3

Binder – 3-ring – 2”

Pocket Folders – 7 – with holes for use in 3-ring binder

Large Zippered Supply Bag – 1 or 2

Index Cards – 3 ”x 5” – lined

Book Covers – large size only – 8”x10” do not fit!

Do not send trapper keepers.  They are big, bulky, and expensive.  We will no longer use them.

Do not send mechanical pencils.  They are a distraction.
