Classroom Policies / Procedures

Homework

I give homework two to three times per week and it usually is answering questions related to an activity completed in class. I accept late work for the most part (until I hand the graded assignment back) but some assignments will have deadlines set in stone. Even though I accept late work, you don't want to fall behind. You will forget many of the minor concepts after several weeks have passed.

Behavior

I expect students to fully participate in all activities conducted within the classroom. Students are to respect each other and property.

Absences

If a student is absent, it is the STUDENT"S RESPONSIBILITYto get the assignment. Also, the student is responsible for all notes and class work missed. Students must make arrangements to make up labs missed within one week or they will take a zero.

Students absent when an assignment is due will have one day for each day absent to submit assignment for full credit. Unit exams will be taken immediately upon your return before or after school.

Home Access Center / Online Grades

I will try my best to upgrade grades every week. It may take a little longer for larger project grades to be entered because it takes longer to grade these assignments. Below is a direct link to the online grading system.

About Me

I am very excited to be teaching your child this year.  This is my eighth year teaching, third in the Parma district.  Prior to coming to Parma, I was a middle school teacher in New York.  My class is very hands on with a focus on writing complete answers based on student observations and collected data.

I haven't always been a teacher.  For 15 years, I was a scientist working in the environmental engineering field.  This experience helps greatly with teaching because I know the skills employers are looking for.

Outside of school, I am a wife and mother of two children, a son who is a senior and a daughter who is a freshman.  I also have two cats   I love to read, quilt, and garden.
