Listed below is the curriculum for 7th and 8th grade computer classes.


7th Grade Curriculum 

In this semester class, the students will:
1). Students will learn keyboarding skills using the “touch method”.

2). Students will become proficient in the operation of the Windows environment.

3). Students will demonstrate competency in managing their personal work and project files in a local area network environment.

4).Students will use word processing application software to develop skills to effectively process written communications, including page formatting and word art, various types of publications, and visual design concepts.

5).Students will develop research skills on the Internet through the use of search engines.

6). Students will advance their knowledge of ethics, safety, netiquette, and navigation skills, and evaluation of web sites on the Internet.

7). Students will be introduced to presentation software to develop skills to deliver information in a well researched, well planned, and visually pleasing manner.

 

8th Grade Curriculum

This course is a follow-up course to concepts learned in the 7th grade course, Computer Literacy. The goal of this course is to empower students to use the computer in and out of an educational environment. Students will review, reinforce, and build knowledge of: the Windows environment, word processing and draw tools, Internet/ web quest, presentation software, and an introduction to spreadsheets.

1. Students will comprehend the impact that computers have on our society.

2. Students will use computers, special software, and the “touch method” to enhance keyboarding skills.

3. The students will become proficient in the operation of the Windows environment.

4. Students will use word processing applications software to develop skills to effectively process written communications.

5. Students will use spreadsheet applications software as an electronic calculating device by creating spreadsheets.

6. Students will use presentation software to develop skills to deliver information in a well researched, well planned and visually pleasing manner.

7. Students will develop skills in the use of digital media (i.e., digital cameras, scanners, etc.).

8. Students will apply Internet research skills in the use of news Web sites, search engines and WebQuests.

9. Students will integrate word processing, presentation and spreadsheet files, digital media and Internet research.

10. Students will demonstrate competency in managing their personal work and project files in a local area network environment.
