Special Course Offerings

Normandy offers an extensive curriculum. There are accelerated course offerings in all the academic areas. In addition to a full range of academic courses, many vocational education programs are available to students at Normandy or at our other two senior high schools, Valley Forge and Parma Senior High. Twenty-one credits minimum are required for graduation. More math, social studies, computer literacy, and science courses are part of this requirement.

In addition to offering more than 78 courses including 9 Advanced Placement classes, NHS houses unique and nationally award winning Career Technical programs including: Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Cisco, Medical Health Professions, Dental Assisting, Radio/TV Production and Biotechnology. Students may graduate from Normandy High School with up to 16 college credits from selected courses in the Career Technical Program.

In addition to the curricular program, students are able to participate in a variety of co-curricular and extra curricular opportunities in the visual and performing arts, athletics and clubs. Invader Band students perform at Disney World, the Ski and Snowboard Club skis in New York and Vermont and Career Technical students compete nationally in Kansas City and Miami, Florida. NHS students and staff are devoted to community service. Some of our service activities include: computer classes for area senior citizens which are sponsored by our Computer Club; Student Government hosts a "Senior Prom" in April with Big Band dancing for Parma area senior citizens; students in Medical Health Professions sponsor 3 yearly blood drives for the American Red Cross. The Drama Workshop sponsors breakfast and matinees for senior citizens for each of their drama productions.
