Prerequisite: Computer Applications I or Computer Applications I Advanced. | COMPUTER GRAPHICS | 320 | Students will use computers and software to explore basic drawing techniques. Emphasis will be placed on graphics creation, clip art selection, merging graphics with text, image editing, charting and presentation graphics design. Designed for the non-artist to use technology to develop graphics for the everyday environment. Prerequisite: Computer Applications I or Computer Applications I Advanced. | VISUAL BASIC I | 321 | This semester course is a must for students who intend to pursue the computer science field after high school. The Visual BASIC programming language will be introduced in a networked environment. Students will use Visual BASIC and XML integration programming to develop code that is used over the Internet. Application development would be a component of this course. Prerequisite: Computer Applications II. | VISUAL BASIC II | 322 | This semester course introduces more advanced Visual BASIC concepts and principles such as application linking to established databases. Visual BASIC II will further prepare the student for college level computer science studies. Prerequisite: Visual BASIC I. | | WEB DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT | 325 | This class will empower students to participate in developing and using today's technology. Coursework includes core page development, frame preparation, HTML programming, hyperlink importation and preparation of graphic elements, animation, scripting and application, integration and interfacing between pages and various databases. | The Computer Science Department consists of three networked labs. Two of these labs are Computer Science Department classrooms to teach the courses listed above. The third lab is a Computer Science Resource Lab that is available for students and staff to use on their free time if a teacher is available. Teachers may reserve this lab for their classes. Lessons are usually team-taught by both the regular classroom teacher and the Computer Science Resource Specialist, Debra Kennedy. Please call and make an appointment with Mrs. Kennedy (440-885-2400) or e-mail (KennedyD@parmacityschools.org) if you would like to see this vibrant program in action. All of our computers are running Windows XP. They are networked in a Windows 2000 environment. We have one DeskJet color printer, two color laser printers, and three b/w laser printers, all of which are networked. Other hardware available for students and staff consists of 4 flatbed color scanners, Connectix Cameras for video conferencing, 4 digital cameras, 2 ZipDrives, 4 CD-RW drives, 1 DVD-RW drive, and T1 Internet connections.
