Boston Trip – Day Three: Plimouth Plantation and Boston (and the Boston Pops!)
We began this day with a quick Danish for breakfast, then off to the Mayflower II. The ship was small, originally designed for being a merchant ship. There were a few actors on the ship, and rather lively and comedic ones at that. After this, we walked back over to the hotel, boarded our bus then headed to Plimouth plantation. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving, the digital camera sort of ... um, died. Not sure why the batteries didn't last, they were charged, but que sera sera I suppose. The pictures will be supplemented when other cameras can be gathered later.
Plimouth Plantation, as popularly known, is a replica of the original village containing living and breathing inhabitants. They are there year-round, if I'm not mistaken. The conversations were quite interesting to try to carry on! On the grounds was also an Indian village, but there was no roleplaying here. After the village, we sallied forth and made our way to Boston.
We were let out to explore the city, which was quite spectacular. There were outdoor bands, a few street performers, shops of all shapes and sizes, and best of all: FOOD! Lunch was eaten at where our hearts desired to take us, and we met back at the bus to get later on to head to the hotel, check in, then head to dinner. Pizzeria Uno was a very good restaurant, and we were served quickly. Afterwards, we went back again to the hotel to get ready for the Boston Pops.
The concert was magnificent. The songs were the classics that everyone knows; The Ride of the Valkyries, A Night on Bald Mountain, and many others that have been so featured in Bugs Bunny cartoons, Fantasia, and other newer media outlets. After intermission, the vocal group Rockappella took the stage to join the Pops in their music. They were equally magnificent.
More pictures as they come in!
