Auditor of State Presents Award for Financial Reporting
Auditor of State, Betty Montgomery presented the Parma City School District, under the direction of Chief Financial Officer/Budget Director, Bruce Basalla and former Chief Financial Officer Daniel Wilson, with the Auditor?s Award for the district?s exemplary 2002 Annual Financial Report. No citations were reported in the audit for the year ending June 30, 2002.
"I applaud the Parma City School District staff for presenting a clear and thorough report of the school district?s finances," Montgomery said. "Fewer than 5 percent of all the agencies (school, governmental) are eligible for today?s award. That says a great deal about the quality of the financial reporting available to the citizens of Parma."
Superintendent Sarah C. Zatik stated, "Our Treasurer?s department holds a staff that is dedicated to accountability and responsibility to ensure accurate records are kept."
During the reception attended by members of Parma City School staff, PTA, community organizations and the Superintendent?s Business Advisory Council, Chief Financial Officer/Budget Director noted, "?credit is given to our former Chief Financial Officer, Daniel Wilson. It was under this watch that the department kept accurate records. Mr. Wilson made the transition smooth from his departure to my arrival in January 2003."
Montgomery also noted the district received the Award of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for fiscal year 2002. This honor is given to government agencies that publish a comprehensive financial report according to a strict set of standards.
