Dear John Glenn Families:
As the freshly painted lines on our new front parking lot begin to dry, it’s a sure sign that the first days of the school year are right around the corner! Hopefully, you found time to relax and play as a family over the break and are now ready to get back into the "groove" of the school day. We are busy putting the finishing touches on our building and classrooms as we prepare to open our doors on another year of educational, social, and emotional growth for each student.
As a reminder, class lists will be posted on the front windows of the school on Aug. 25th at 4:00 p.m., and the first day of school for students in grades 1-6 is Wednesday, Aug. 27th. Opening day is a full day of school beginning at 9:15 a.m. and ending at 3:15 p.m. with lunch service available. All Kindergarten students begin on Aug. 29th.
In order to help your family get organized and ready for Opening Day, we will be hosting a Curriculum Night on Tuesday, Aug. 26th from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This is an Adult Only opportunity to meet with members of our John Glenn staff to learn about building and classroom procedures and expectations that will make for a smooth 08-09 school year.

In addition to the scheduled events listed on the previous page, your family will have an opportunity to:
- Deposit money into your child’s Cafeteria account
- Sign-up for a family Car Rider number
- Purchase John Glenn School spirit wear in our new school colors of orange and white
- Sample Market Day items
- Sign-up for PTA membership and school volunteer opportunities
- Register to Vote
