Operation Child Protect to offer Free Child ID Kits at Parmatown Mall
Children enjoy the identification process – getting their pictures taken and seeing the images of their fingerprints on a computer screen
Operation Child Protect, a partnership between Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Bill Mason and the FBI, will provide free identification kits for children registering for kindergarten in Parma schools. The kits will be provided during registration on March 18th and 19th at the Parmatown mall from 7:30 am– 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Members of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, FBI, and the Parma Police Department will be on hand to assist parents, guardians, and children in completing the kits and distributing educational materials.
Parents and guardians who are planning to take advantage of the free kits are encouraged to print and fill out the permission slip prior to the game in order to save time. Click here to download the permission slip.
The mission of Operation Child Protect is to employ the latest technology to create child identification tools that will provide law enforcement with accurate, up-to-date identification of missing children. The goal of this safety initiative is to provide free child identification kits and educational materials to parents and guardians of children enrolled in Cuyahoga County schools. Each Child ID Kit includes (1) a Child ID Card, which contains color photographs, vital demographic and medical information, plus the child’s 10 fingerprints; (2) a digital color photograph on a CD – both a head and shoulders view and a profile; and (3) a Buccal (cheek) DNA collector.
The Child ID Kit is maintained solely by parents and guardians. Possession of the Child ID Kit allows essential information to be disseminated within minutes of a child’s disappearance, dramatically increasing the probability of a child’s safe return.
