NEW PTA FUNDRAISER
Start saving those General Mills BOX TOPS for Education. Hillside is beginning to collect the General MillsBOX TOPSfrom products you and your family use every day. Cut them out and have your child bring them to school. There is a box in the main office for your contributions. As always, thank you for your support ofHillside Middle School:)
There is a homeroom contest the week of October 19 through 23
to see which homeroom can turn in the most BOX TOPS --
save your box tops and send them in with your child the week of October 19!


FUN NIGHT RULES

DRESS CODE-- THE SAME DRESS CODE APPLIES DURING ATTENDANCE AT OUR SCHOOL DANCES:

  • Feet must be covered by some type of shoe or sandal.
  • All shirts, etc. must have sleeves. Bare midriffs, see-through and/or cutout clothing is not permitted. Trousers must be cinched tightly at the waistline (no sagging) and undergarments may not be visible at any time.
  • Hair curlers/rollers are not to be worn.
  • No outdoor jacket/jean jacket is to be worn during the school day.
  • Any garment specifically made to be worn as an undergarment is not to be worn as an outer garment.
  • Insignias, emblems, colors, etc. representing non-approved or non-school organizations shall not be worn during the school day or at school functions.
  • EXTREMES in styles or bizarre types of clothing that disrupt the educational atmosphere or are unsafe are not permitted.
  • Shorts, skirts and skorts must be fingertip length.
  • Any form fitting or skintight article of clothing must be covered by an appropriate overgarment on the body.
  • No bandannas, hats, or headbands are to be worn in school.
  • Students are prohibited from wearing articles of clothing, jewelry, or carrying article which promote drugs, tobacco and alcohol, glorify death and mutilation, contain profanity, or state or suggest sexual or pornographic activity. Any racially or culturally offensive clothing is not permitted.
  • The presence of any apparel, jewelry, accessory, or manner of grooming, which by virtue of its color, arrangement, trademark, or any other attribute, denotes membership in a group or gang is prohibited. Chains, spiked wristbands, collars or clothing is not permitted.
  • Bizarre hair color (hair that is a color which is extremely unusually and unnatural), face paint or clothing that distracts from the learning process will be removed or the student will be sent home. School administration reserves the right to exclude apparel which is disruptive or offensive and/or affects the health or safety of the student or others. Also, as a safety issue, backpacks/dufflebags should not be carried during the dance.

DANCING:

  • Suggestive dancing is not permitted.
  • Most pit or any type of dance activity that is danger to the safety of students will not be permitted.

ALL SCHOOL RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLY AND ARE IN EFFECT DURING DANCES/FUN NIGHTS.

CONSEQUENCES:

  • Call to your parents, to come and pick you up from the dance. In the event a parent is not home, you will remain in Room 131 until the end of the dance. A monitor will be in the room.
  • Second warning -- you will not be permitted to attend any future fun nights for the rest of that school year.
  • If at any time, many students continue to dance inappropriately during a fun night, the lights will be turned on and shall remain on for the rest of the dance.

AS APPROPRIATE, CONSEQUENCES FOR RULE VIOLATIONS WILL BE APPLIED IN THE SAME MANNER AS THEY WOULD DURING THE REGULAR SCHOOL DAY.

IT IS OUR INTENT FOR ALL OF YOU TO HAVE A FUN, SAFE, AND ENJOYABLE EVENING.
