"Hi, pizza man!" by Virginia Walters

Hints for Reading Aloud
When reading Hi Pizza Man the reader can stress "Hi Pizza _____". Let the child guess what character comes next. If he/she needs help say the character and then have the child repeat after you say it.
Things to Use at Home
Puppets, Beanie Babies or stuffed animals: a kitty, dog, duck, cow, snake, dinosaur, a man’s cap and woman’s hat
A pizza box
Activities:
- Role play the story using different props or stuffed animals for the characters.
- Sequence the story by asking: "Who is at the door next?"
- Have the children make a pizza: use English muffins, a jar of pizza sauce, shredded cheese, a bag of pepperoni
Help your child sequence the steps to make a pizza then cook and enjoy!
Make a Pizza Game:
1. Cut 8 triangle shapes out of red construction paper.
2. Write letters or numbers on the back
3. Have the child pick a slice of pizza
4. Have your child identify the number or letter is and place it in the pizza box
5. When the pizza is completed in the box, he/she can deliver the pizza and pretend to be a character in the story.
Extension:
- Go to a pizza shop and have dinner
- Order a pizza and have it delivered. See if it is a Pizza Man or a Pizza Woman.
