Preschoolers with disabilities can be provided with transportation to school and home through the Parma City Schools. This service is formalized on the child's Individualized Education Program (IEP). In order for the school district to provide transportation in a safe and efficient manner, please review the following guidelines:
Parent Responsibilities
Have your child ready 5 minutes before scheduled pick-up time
Have a cleared passageway between home and vehicle - especially in bad weather
Review "safe bus behavior" with your child
Cancel transportation services as early as possible if your child will be absent
Transportation Responsibilities
Assist children on and off the vehicle
Provide children appropriate security (seat belt, wheel chair locks, car seat, etc.)
Utilize special handling techniques identified in the child's IEP
Reinforce "safe bus behavior"
