Little Cloud by Eric Carle
Summary: This story is about a Little Cloud who changes shapes in the form of a sheep, air plane, shark, trees, rabbit, hat, and a clown. Finally the little cloud drifts back to the other clouds. They change into one big cloud just in time for it to begin raining.
Hints for reading aloud:
As you read the story to your child, emphasize the words "Little cloud changed into a …". Use a quiet voice when telling the story. It is a peaceful story - maybe one to read before bedtime.
Things you can use at home:
Little Cloud Book bag of cotton sheet of blue paper
glue shaving cream
Activities:
- Read the story aloud with your child twice.
- Make pictures from the story out of cotton and blue paper. See if your child can make the same pictures that are in the story. A sheep, plane, shark, trees, rabbit, hat and a clown. Your child can then make his/ her own little cloud book.
- Recall the sequence of what happened first, next and last in the story.
- Discuss how the cloud feels. Use words like soft, fluffy, white etc.
- Touch shaving cream and make your own "Little Cloud" with your child.
