WELCOME TO THE DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION SYSTEMS (DIS) Focus of Work - Improving student academic performance through the use of technology;
- continued acquisition and deployment of technology resources for use throughout the district;
- utilization of information systems in the decision making process;
- alignment of district activities into a coherent, unified, and efficient effort;
- strategic planning to improve district infrastructure and reduce costs.
The Department of Information Systems is comprised of sixteen people housed at two locations who provide administrative and field support for all technology in the district. This includes all phone and data communications; applications development and support; instructional technology integration and support; data management and processing; process re-engineering; strategic planning and project management. Field staff are located in the DIS facility at Parma Senior High School. Department administration, the Applications Group, data management, instructional technology, and the Help Desk are located in the district administration building on Ridge Road.
OpenOffice 2.0 is Coming to a Desktop Near You! The Parma City School District is switching over to OpenOffice 2 as our productivity suite. The great thing is that this new tool reads and writes to many different formats (including MS Office 97) and it has many useful new features.
