Dentzler Elementary's Student Council consists of three students from each classroom in grades one through six. Two of the students are representatives and one is an alternate. The council meets during recess/lunch time. Elected officers - president, vice-president, treasurer, secretary and attendance - run the meetings while the advisors, Mrs. Paltani and Mrs. Pavlus, oversee.
Every morning a Student Council member begins each day by making a 9:15 announcement. He/she prompts the entire school to recite the Pledge of Allegiance together. The member tells what guest teachers are in the building, shares the lunch menu, recognizes students' birthdays and announces other news.
Student Council kicked off the year with two events. The first was a schoolwide spirit wear sale. This was a huge success as students and their families bought Dentzler apparel. Next students dipped and packaged delicious chocolate covered pretzels. These were sold at our annual Fall Festival as well as after school. We sold 750 pretzels! Profits from these sales allowed us to purchase a theater style popcorn machine for the building.
Our members continue to do a variety of altruistic projects which include creating various items for Parma Hospital's Elder Care Center. Throughout the year Student Council is responsible for collecting, cutting and counting BoxTops for Education.
Dentzler Elementary continues to be proud of our Student Council!
