General Information

The Mission Statement of C/B/S

The Community/Business/Schools Partnership is committed and dedicated
to developing programs to support the Mission of the Parma City School District,
matching resources in the community with the needs of students, teachers
and administrators in the district, as well as matching resources of the schools
with the needs of the community.

                   The Mission Statement
                                   of the
                   Parma City School District
The district will educate, nurture and graduate engaged
students who are critical thinkers and problem solvers
prepared to communicate, collaborate and contribute to
a global society.

The History of C/B/S

The idea of the C/B/S Partnership originated in 1990 as a logical outgrowth
of the State Department of
Education’s School Business Partnership.
The C/B/S Partnership is designed to promote business and community
involvement with and for the students of the Parma City School District.

In 1991, the Parma City School District’s principals were asked if
partnerships with businesses and/or community organizations would benefit
the students. They responded unanimously that they would welcome
a commitment by an individual or group to join in the education of youth.

In 1995, the C/B/S Partnership became closely tied to Ohio’s BEST Practices
– an initiative that identifies and promotes exemplary grass-roots education
programs. The cities of Parma, Parma Heights, and Seven Hills, have
since been named BEST Communities based solely on the quality of the
public schools.

Today, the C/B/S Partnership develops programs with area businesses and
community groups to enhance student achievement and to provide
opportunities that will ensure future success for students.

The Benefits of C/B/S

Today’s students must have a broader perspective than yesterday’s
graduates in order to meet the demands and realities of the global social
and economic order of the 21st century. The C/B/S Partnership is
the catalyst for ensuring that these students have the opportunity
to experience relevant and timely assistance from community partners
who share the same vision.

Today’s students will live in our communities, will become productive
workers in our communities, and will assure the leadership of our communities
for a better tomorrow.

The Challenge

The C/B/S Partnership is looking for individuals, businesses, and community
groups to help enrich the learning experiences of the Parma City School
District’s 13,000 students in the elementary, middle and senior high schools.
